If you are facing criminal charges or dealing with legal issues involving divorce or other family law matters, the office of Rick L. Mahler Attorney at Law offers knowledgeable legal guidance that is personalized to meet each client's unique needs.
I am attorney Rick L. Mahler, and I have served residents of Wichita County and north Texas for nearly 30 years. Since 2007, I have divided my private practice between representing individuals who face a wide range of criminal charges and advocating for individuals in divorce, child custody and other family law cases. Prior to founding my own firm, I worked for 22 years in the Wichita County District Attorney's Office. I rose through the ranks there and eventually served as chief felony prosecutor before leaving the DA's office.
I am Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in criminal law. This designates a high level of experience and extensive knowledge of state and federal constitutional law, evidence, procedure and penal laws involved in the trial of these matters.
A Personal Approach With Every Client
I regularly appear in courts in Wichita County, Wilbarger County, Archer County and Jack County. I emphasize a highly personalized approach with every client. My clients are assured of working directly with me, from the initial consultation through the resolution of the case. That's an important distinction between my firm and larger law firms, which may shuffle your case among several attorneys and legal assistants who are balancing heavy case loads to begin with.
My two decades' worth of experience prosecuting criminals who faced a wide variety of criminal charges — from DWI to capital murder — serve me well now that I am on the "other side" of these cases. I have a thorough understanding of how the state develops its cases and can quickly identify any weaknesses that exist. I'm able to accurately anticipate the prosecution's approach and create effective counter strategies.
In addition, I know how much leeway prosecutors have for resolving criminal cases using alternative sentencing measures or plea agreements. I speak candidly with my criminal defense clients about offers that will allow them to avoid a trial. If it makes sense to accept an agreement, we will negotiate for the best possible deal. If you are better served going to trial, I am a proven litigator who always stands ready to advocate aggressively for my clients' in court.
Protecting Your Rights In Family Matters
My litigation skills also serve me well when representing clients in divorce and other family law matters. These cases can be highly emotional and hotly contested. It is important to retain the services of a lawyer who is comfortable fighting for you in court when a fair agreement cannot be reached through negotiations.
I offer a free consultation in which I will review the facts of your case and recommend the best steps to take. Call or use our online contact form to schedule an appointment. My office is conveniently located in the Hamilton Building in Wichita Falls.
